Softball Game Preview: Trivium Prep Crimson Knights vs. Mohave Accelerated Patriots

The Trivium Prep Crimson Knights will challenge the Mohave Accelerated Patriots at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

If Trivium Prep beats Mohave Accelerated with 19 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Crimson Knights beat Madison Highland Prep on Wednesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 19-18. With that victory, the Crimson Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Trivium Prep got a massive performance out of McKenna Guymon, who scored five runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Coby Luekenga, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Trivium Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Mohave Accelerated had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Broncs a 15-0 shutout. The Patriots' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

Mohave Accelerated pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Trivium Prep, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.

Trivium Prep suffered a grim 26-0 defeat to Mohave Accelerated in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Crimson Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
