Volleyball Recap: Ainsworth Comes Up Short

After flying high against Stuart on Monday, Ainsworth came back down to earth. The Bulldogs lost 3-0 to the St. Mary's Cardinals on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since September 16th.

Despite the defeat, Ainsworth saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lily Beel had 12 digs and two aces. Beel is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Bethany Leisy was the offensive standout of the match as she had 12 digs and one assist.

Ainsworth has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season. As for St. Mary's, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-6.

Ainsworth wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against North Central on the 24th. As for St. Mary's, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Elgin/Pope John on the 24th.
