Volleyball Recap: Troy Trojans vs. Gatesville Hornets
It was a good run, but Troy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Gatesville Hornets by a score of 3-2. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
Troy took Gatesville into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-19, 18-25, 25-20, 15-8.
Troy's loss dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Gatesville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
Troy will play host again on Friday to welcome Central Heights, where the match is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. Central Heights will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Troy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gatesville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Whitney at 5:30 p.m. Gatesville is facing Whitney at the right time seeing as Whitney is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
