Basketball Recap: Kansas City East Christian Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ryder Cartwright and Maddox Carrillo

Kansas City East Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the North Missouri HomeSchool Knights, falling 87-61. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 63-55.

Maddox Carrillo and Ryder Cartwright certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Carrillo went 9-for-19 en route to 20 points in addition to eight boards and three steals, while Cartwright went 9-for-19 on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds. That's the most rebounds Carrillo has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brayden Brown, who earned seven points.

Kansas City East Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-17. As for North Missouri HomeSchool, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Kansas City East Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Christ Prep Academy at 6:30 p.m. on February 25th. North Missouri HomeSchool does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
