Basketball Recap: Port Isabel Takes a Loss

Port Isabel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 48-29 to the Pace Vikings. The Tarpons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

It was another big night for Bre Nelson, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds for Pace. With that strong performance, Nelson is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Maddie Beard, who posted six points and four steals.

Port Isabel's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Pace, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Looking ahead, Port Isabel will square off against Hanna at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pace, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 26-20 win against Lopez on the 6th.
