Baseball Recap: Weston Wins Going Away Against Union Parish

Weston got themselves on the board against Union Parish on Monday, but Union Parish never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 17-0 margin over the Union Parish Farmers. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Bryce Zehr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Drew Browning was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted over his last six contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Weaver, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Weston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union Parish only posted an OBP of .250.

Weston is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Union Parish and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Weston wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Family Community Christian on the 7th. As for Union Parish, they have also already played their next contest, a 20-2 defeat against Delhi Charter on the 5th.
