Baseball Recap: Union Catholic Comes Up Short

Westfield hit Union Catholic with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 8-5 to the Blue Devils. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 9-5.

Luiggi Sacca and Brayden Morrison did some serious damage despite the final result: Sacca went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Morrison went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. That triple was Sacca's first of the season. Jay Sporer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Union Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9-1 record this season. As for Westfield, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.
