Basketball Recap: PikeView Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when PikeView challenged Shady Spring on Tuesday. The PikeView Panthers fell just short of the Shady Spring Tigers by a score of 52-49. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Tigers are ranked tenth).

PikeView's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-5. As for Shady Spring, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. PikeView will square off against Midland Trail at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. As for Shady Spring, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against WestSide at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shady Spring has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
