Soccer Game Preview: Tempe vs. St. Mary's

The Tempe Buffaloes will take on the St. Mary's Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tempe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.

Tempe is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Fairfax just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Stampede by a score of 3-2.

Giancarlo Arzate and Erick Rodriguez scored both of Tempe's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, it was close, but back in December of 2024 St. Mary's sidestepped Crismon for a 2-1 win.

St. Mary's is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those four matches. As for Tempe, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Tempe took their victory against St. Mary's in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 by a conclusive 3-0. Will Tempe repeat their success, or does St. Mary's have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
