Baseball Recap: Lehighton Triumphs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lehighton had no problem doing just that on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Saucon Valley Panthers 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted against the Panthers since April 30, 2018.

The team relied heavily on Chase Llewellyn, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Lehighton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-11 when he doesn't). Logan Bellis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Lehighton's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Saucon Valley, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-4.

Looking ahead, Lehighton will take on Northern Lehigh at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. Saucon Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
