Baseball Game Preview: Laytonville Warriors vs. Grace Christian Academy Lions

The Laytonville Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Grace Christian Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Laytonville has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Grace Christian Academy will arrive with six straight victories.

Laytonville is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Rio Lindo Adventist last Friday, falling 13-3.

Meanwhile, Grace Christian Academy was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Victory Christian Academy 7-5.

Leif Jackson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time he's pitched this season. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI.

Jackson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jerome Swehla, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI. Ty Trabucco was another, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Grace Christian Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Laytonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Laytonville came up short against Grace Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March, falling 5-0. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
