Basketball Recap: Bandys' Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Bandys was riding high fresh off their 52-16 takedown of West Lincoln last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bandys Trojans fell 49-36 to the East Burke Cavaliers on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Bandys still got an impressive performance from Lexi Vaughan, who went 8 for 14 on her way to 20 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Vaughan is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Cross, who posted six points and 11 rebounds.

Braelyn Stilwell was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 15 on her way to 22 points and five steals for East Burke. That makes it four consecutive games in which Stilwell has scored at least a third of East Burke's points. Another player making a difference was Addison Sisk, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Bandys' loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2. As for East Burke, their victory was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.

Bandys and East Burke should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Bandys (ranked 152nd) will meet West Lincoln (ranked 455th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, East Burke (ranked 14th) will meet Smoky Mountain (ranked 363rd) at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
