Baseball Recap: Northeast Comes Up Short

Northeast extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 11-1 to the Miami Stingarees. The Hurricanes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Stingarees from their previous meeting back in February of 2025.

Northeast saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jean Caraballo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

As for Miami, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average this season.

On Miami's side, Alex Semet looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Semet has posted since back in March of 2025.

At the plate, Randy Mercedes was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Wryan Jenkins was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast will challenge Northwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Miami, they will take on Pinecrest North Preparatory at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
