Recap: Lecanto Panthers vs. Gulf Buccaneers

The Lecanto Panthers can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They breezed by Gulf at home to the tune of 71-42. With that win, Lecanto brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.

Leading Lecanto to victory were Bryleigh Florio and Ijyana Edwards. Florio scored 23 points along with eight steals and six assists, while Edwards scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Edwards has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Xena Bellamy, who scored two points along with ten steals.

Gulf's loss came despite strong showings from Tajinae Bonney and Brenniyah Hall. Bonney scored 12 points along with nine steals and five assists, while Hall scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Hall is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

The victory was the third in a row for Lecanto, bringing their record for this year to 14-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Gulf, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, Lecanto and Gulf will both be playing Crystal River the next time they take the court. Gulf will host Crystal River at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while Lecanto will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
