Baseball Recap: Elkhorn South Takes Down Ranked Creighton Prep

Elkhorn South faced Creighton Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Storm skirted past the Junior Jays 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Storm have posted since March 25th.

Brody Jindra was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Elkhorn South's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Jindra was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Jindra wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Lofdahl, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Elkhorn South and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Creighton Prep, they moved to 8-8 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkhorn South will host Omaha Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Creighton Prep, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Rockhurst at 1:00 p.m.
