Softball Game Preview: Gilbert Indians vs. Airport Eagles

The Gilbert Indians will square off against the Airport Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Gilbert will be strutting in after a win while Airport will be coming in after a defeat.

Gilbert took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Brookland-Cayce get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Indians have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Airport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 15-2 to North Augusta.

Gilbert's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Airport, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Everything went Gilbert's way against Airport when the teams last played back in March, as Gilbert made off with an 11-1 win. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
