Preview: McLane Highlanders vs. Hoover Patriots

McLane has been on the road for three straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Hoover Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Thursday, McLane was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 66-61 to Roosevelt. McLane has not had much luck with Roosevelt recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the defeat, McLane got a solid performance out of Isaiah Pamanes, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pamanes has scored all season. Cedric Hughes was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hoover beat Sunnyside 73-68 on Thursday.

McLane's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8. As for Hoover, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.

McLane came up short against Hoover in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 66-57. Can McLane avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
