Softball Recap: De Pere Extends Winning Streak to Three

18 must be De Pere's lucky number: they beat Sheboygan South with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Redbirds never let the Redwings get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. Considering the Redbirds have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Krutz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Cadence Brennan was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Krepline, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

De Pere always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sheboygan South only posted an OBP of .100.

The victory (which was De Pere's third in a row) raised their record to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Sheboygan South, they are on a 35-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. De Pere will host Green Bay Southwest at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Redbirds' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Fighting Trojans have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Sheboygan South, they will face off against Racine Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
