Baseball Recap: May River Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bluffton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask May River). They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Bluffton Bobcats on Tuesday. With that victory, the Sharks brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Trevor Konte tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trace Mischik, who went a perfect 6-for-6 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those six hits gave him a new career-high. Dylan Mischik also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

May River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

May River's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-4. As for Bluffton, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.

May River will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
