Baseball Game Preview: Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets vs. Donna Redskins

For the second straight game, Edcouch-Elsa will face off against Donna. The Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edcouch-Elsa will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Edcouch-Elsa couldn't beat Donna on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Yellowjackets fell just short of the Redskins by a score of 9-8.

For Donna's part, Max Torres looked comfortable as he tossed 0.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Torres also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Redskins are 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Rincon, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ronaldo Bocanegra, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Donna hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edcouch-Elsa struck out nine times.

With the win, Donna broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-12. As for Edcouch-Elsa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
