Francesca Moralejo and Sydney Endo did most of the damage at the plate: Moralejo went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and five RBI, while Endo went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Endo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Abunda, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Mercy's offense. They came up short against Mills on Friday, falling 11-0. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Mercy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elena Gonzalez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Mercy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .404. However, it's not like Mercy struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
