Volleyball Recap: Reading Memorial's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

After a string of six wins, Reading Memorial's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against the Winchester Red & Black, falling 3-0. The Rockets were not able to make up for their loss to the Red & Black from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Reading Memorial was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Winchester work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-9, 29-27, 25-16.

Charlie Ballestas paced Reading Memorial's offense, picking up four kills. Ballestas got some help from Gianna Miceli and her six assists. Cara Vitarisi controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Reading Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Winchester, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Reading Memorial has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Longmeadow on the 27th. As for Winchester, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Brookline on the 26th.
