Recap: Elba Tigers vs. Florala Wildcats
Even though the Elba Tigers have not done well against the Florala Wildcats recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Elba strolled past Florala with points to spare, taking the game 69-52. The victory was all the more spectacular given Elba's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Florala is ranked 99th).
Despite the loss, Florala still got an impressive performance from Rayshon Coleman, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Dalton Jackson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Elba is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Florala, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elba won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pike Liberal Arts at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Pike Liberal Arts is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Florala won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Houston County at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Houston County has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28.
