Softball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-9 to make it nine. They came up short against the Garfield G-Men, falling 18-2. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Leopards couldn't push the score so high this time.

Liberty saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Harris, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Harris' first of the season.

As for Garfield, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-6. The result was nothing new for the G-Men, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Garfield's side, Emily Knerem and Madi Seiler did most of the damage at the plate: Knerem went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Seiler went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Seiler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Diamond Dyson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 defeat against Champion on the 27th. As for Garfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 12-1 victory against Crestview on the 27th.
