Basketball Game Preview: Rockdale Tigers vs. Franklin Lions

Rockdale hasn't had much luck against Franklin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Rockdale Tigers challenge the Franklin Lions at 6:00 p.m.

Rockdale lost 59-36 to Little River Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 875th, while the Bumblebees are ranked 85th).

Meanwhile, Franklin won against Taylor on Friday with 60 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Franklin walked away with a 60-50 win over Lexington. The victory was familiar territory for the Lions who have now won three contests in a row.

Franklin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Rockdale, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Rockdale was dealt a bruising 67-34 defeat at the hands of Franklin in their previous matchup back in February of 2020. Can Rockdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
