Baseball Recap: Hays Finds Playoff Glory Versus Shawnee Heights

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hays had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds 7-6. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by just one run.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Hays, bringing their record up to 17-8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Shawnee Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-8.

Looking ahead, Hays will square off against Saint Thomas Aquinas at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 3.7, the Saints 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Shawnee Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
