Basketball Recap: Marco Island Academy Comes Up Short

Marco Island Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt an 85-49 defeat at the hands of the Donahue Catholic Shamrocks. The Rays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-17.

Donahue Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaac Loboda led the charge by going 10 of 19 on his way to 24 points and five rebounds. Loboda's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corban Copeland, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points and five assists.

Marco Island Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Donahue Catholic, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-3.

Marco Island Academy will take on The Village School of Naples in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Donahue Catholic, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 76-53 victory against Marathon on the 14th.
