Softball Recap: Custer County Comes Up Short

Custer County extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dawson County Red Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-3 two weeks ago.

Jacie Chapweske made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Katelyn Harding was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As for Dawson County, their record is now 6-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 25, 2024.

On Dawson County's side, Ashley Eaton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Eaton was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Dawson County got a massive performance out of Venice Torres, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hatty Eaton, who went 2-for-6 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Custer County nor Dawson County have any future games scheduled.
