Softball Recap: Marysville Takes a Loss

Marysville had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-15 to make it five. They lost 17-4 to the Wheatland Pirates. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 8-5 to the Pirates when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Janis Sutton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

As for Wheatland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.8 runs.

On Wheatland's side, Raelynn Hulsey was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Hulsey a new career-high. Sophia Logan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

While Marysville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
