Softball Recap: Black River Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

Black River won the last time they faced Oberlin and things went their way on Thursday too. The Pirates put the hurt on the Phoenix with a sharp 17-1 victory. Considering the Pirates have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mallory Eckert made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Eckert was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Black River got a massive performance out of Jenna Dieter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Madelyn Stief was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Black River has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Oberlin, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12-1.
