Softball Game Preview: American Fork Cavemen vs. Mountain Ridge Sentinels

For the second straight game, American Fork will face off against Mountain Ridge. The Cavemen will square off against the Sentinels at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. American Fork has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 15.

American Fork heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to Mountain Ridge. That's two games in a row now that the Cavemen have lost by exactly ten runs.

For Mountain Ridge's part, Sydney Lambert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Lambert was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Red Brooks was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Tatyana Toala was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Mountain Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Mountain Ridge's record now sits at 21-4. As for American Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 8-20.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. American Fork hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Mountain Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .401. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
