Softball Recap: Eagle Wins High-Profile Game Against Kuna

Eagle faced Kuna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Mustangs blew past the Kavemen 8-2. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Peyton Bargen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Bargen was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Eagle let Brooke Frame and Aly Vieira run wild. Frame went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Vieira went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Those three RBI gave Frame a new career-high.

Eagle hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive games.

Eagle is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Kuna, they dropped their record down to 13-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Eagle will be taking part in a tournament against Owyhee at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Storm will roll in looking for their 24th straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. Kuna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
