Basketball Recap: Northwest Halifax Vikings vs. Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars
After flying high against KIPP P last Monday, Northwest Halifax came back down to earth. The Northwest Halifax Vikings took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars on Tuesday. The Vikings were down 41-21 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kalasha Macon, who posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave Macon a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Tatyanna Mcgee, who had 12 points.
Rocky Mount Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sumaya Lancaster out in front who put up 12 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Lancaster is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Iyana Scott also deserves some recognition as she pulled down her first boards of the season.
Northwest Halifax has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Rocky Mount Prep, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-11 record.
Northwest Halifax wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-24 win against Southeast Halifax on the 5th. Rocky Mount Prep has also already played their next game, a 67-48 defeat against Warren County on the 5th.
