Basketball Recap: Villa Rica Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Villa Rica and Rome squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Villa Rica had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Rome Wolves by a score of 48-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since December 13, 2024.

Jermiya Winston was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards for Rome. Winston has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. Tristahja (mo) Slocum was another key player, putting up eight points and ten boards.

Villa Rica has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season. Rome's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7.

Villa Rica does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rome, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 41-36 defeat against Alexander on the 13th.
