Baseball Game Preview: Winnebago Lutheran Academy Vikings vs. Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes

The Winnebago Lutheran Academy Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Winnebago Lutheran Academy's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Fox Valley Lutheran's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Winnebago Lutheran Academy barely beat Omro the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings blew past the Foxes 9-1 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Fox Valley Lutheran and Freedom meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Foxes never let the Irish get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. That looming 4-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Foxes yet this season.

The result came thanks to Jack Schlueter's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Luke Heimerl was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Conor Tetting also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Winnebago Lutheran Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Fox Valley Lutheran, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-3.

Winnebago Lutheran Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Fox Valley Lutheran in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
