Baseball Recap: UMS-Wright Prep's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

UMS-Wright Prep got themselves on the board against Murphy on Saturday, but Murphy never followed suit. They were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over the Murphy Panthers. Considering the Bulldogs have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Manning Amorde, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was John Ramsay, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

UMS-Wright Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

UMS-Wright Prep's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Murphy, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, UMS-Wright Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairhope at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairhope's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so UMS-Wright Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Murphy, they will head out on the road to challenge Vigor at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
