Preview: Leonia Lions vs. Hawthorne Christian Defenders
Leonia has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Hawthorne Christian Defenders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Leonia pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Milford. While losing is never fun, Leonia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while New Milford is ranked 185th).
Meanwhile, Hawthorne Christian came up short against Eastern Christian on Wednesday and fell 62-49. Hawthorne Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leonia bumped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Hawthorne Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
