Recap: Sandy Creek Cougars vs. St. Cecilia Bluehawks

The Sandy Creek Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 46-22 walloping at the hands of St. Cecilia. While losing is never fun, Sandy Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while St. Cecilia is ranked 24th).

Despite the loss, Sandy Creek saw an underclassman step up: Emma Fisher scored seven points. Fisher scored a full 31.8% of Sandy Creek's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Sandy Creek's defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.9 points per game. As for St. Cecilia, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandy Creek will take on St. Paul at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Cecilia, they will be playing at home against Lincoln Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
