Basketball Game Preview: Effingham County Rebels vs. Walton Raiders

Having just played yesterday, the Effingham County Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Walton Raiders at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Effingham County has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 22.

Effingham County is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Pope on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. 2025 welcomed Effingham County with a 57-31 loss courtesy of Pope. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 24th).

Meanwhile, Walton came into Saturday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They breezed by Banneker to the tune of 70-33 two weeks ago. That 37 point margin sets a new team best for the Raiders this season.

Effingham County's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Walton, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
