Basketball Recap: Johann Omae Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

Otay Ranch had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past the Imperial Tigers 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since February 2, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Otay Ranch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johann Omae, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ace Arciaga, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 16 points.

Otay Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Otay Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Imperial, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Otay Ranch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 82-81 defeat against Granite Hills on the 2nd. As for Imperial, they will venture away from home to square off against Southwest EC at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th.
