Basketball Game Preview: Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings vs. University School Preppers

The Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings will take on the University School Preppers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Villa Angela-St. Joseph's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Villa Angela-St. Joseph to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaevon Hairston, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 16 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Those 16 points gave Hairston a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Brown, who posted eight points and five steals.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, University School came up short against Gilmour Academy on Friday and fell 75-68.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. As for University School, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph came out on top in a nail-biter against University School in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 68-65. Will Villa Angela-St. Joseph repeat their success, or does University School have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
