Baseball Recap: Arnold Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Arnold came tearing into Thursday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Greenwood Gators. That's two games straight that the Marlins have won by exactly three runs.

Jackson Ross looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Arnold's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carter Campbell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave Campbell a new career-high. Josh Lindsey was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Arnold pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Greenwood, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.

Arnold and Greenwood are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Marlins will challenge Godby at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.9 runs per game on average), something Arnold will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenwood, they are taking a road trip to take on Logan County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
