Basketball Recap: Dunbar Comes Up Short

Dunbar suffered their biggest loss since February 28, 2024 on Saturday. They were dealt an 85-45 defeat at the hands of the Carver Vo-Tech Bears. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Crimson Tide came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 15th in District of Columbia, while the Bears are ranked 79th in Maryland).

Leading Carver Vo-Tech to victory were Jordan Prior and Justin Swanson. Prior went 8 for 11 en route to 19 points and seven boards, while Swanson posted 13 points and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Prior a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Keyshawn White, who had seven points.

Dunbar has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Carver Vo-Tech, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Dunbar will take on Bell at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Dunbar is facing Bell at the right time seeing as Bell is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Carver Vo-Tech, they will welcome Mergenthaler Vo-Tech at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
