Baseball Recap: Metuchen Comes Up Short

Metuchen lost to Middlesex back in May of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Bluejays by a score of 2-1. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lucas Malamug spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Matthew Jelleme made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Metuchen's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Middlesex, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bluejays beat Metuchen by a score of 6-2 on Thursday.
