Basketball Recap: Chetek-Weyerhaeuser's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hayward, Chetek-Weyerhaeuser was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They snuck past the Cumberland Beavers with a 45-39 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Despite the loss, Cumberland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raegan Beecroft posted eight points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks. Those five blocks set a new season-high mark for Beecroft. Another player making a difference was Melody Taylor, who earned ten points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Chetek-Weyerhaeuser's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Cumberland, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season.

Chetek-Weyerhaeuser has already played their next contest (against Ladysmith), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cumberland has also has no score uploaded for their next match, this one against Luck.
