Baseball Recap: Dr. Krop Wins Going Away Against Reagan

Dr. Krop barely beat Reagan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dr. Krop Lightning never let the Reagan Bison get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Friday. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Lightning this season.

Marco Loreto was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Esaul Pena, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three RBI. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Dr. Krop is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Emmanuel Dominguez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Dr. Krop always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Dr. Krop has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Reagan is on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Dr. Krop will face off against Miami Beach at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Miami Beach's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Dr. Krop's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Reagan, they will take on Booker T. Washington at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
