Baseball Recap: Lawrence Academy Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Lawrence Academy dropped their record down to 14-5-1 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of Groton School by a score of 5-4. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Groton School apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Sam Campbell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Daniel Nuti made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Jordan Henriquez was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Groton School, they pushed their record up to 8-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

On Groton School's side, Kiran Sen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Wig, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Lawrence Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Groton School, they will challenge St. Mark's at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
