Basketball Recap: Water Canyon Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Water Canyon and American Prep WV squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Water Canyon had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 67-48 to the American Prep WV Eagles. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the team, making it 13 in a row.

It was another big night for Marcus Versluis, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds for American Prep WV. Versluis is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chris Monroy, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 13 points and three steals.

Water Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for American Prep WV, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Water Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for American Prep WV, they will square off against Merit Preparatory Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Merit Preparatory Academy comes in on three and American Prep WV on eight.
