Baseball Recap: Granville Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Granville Christian Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Tree of Life Christian on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 6-5. Granville Christian Academy was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Tree of Life Christian earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Bentley Johnson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Jordan Stump made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Josiah Green was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Granville Christian Academy moved to 12-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Tree of Life Christian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3.

Coming up, Granville Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Tree of Life Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Shekinah Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
