Softball Game Preview: Hobart Brickies vs. Morgan Township Cherokees

The Hobart Brickies will head out to take on the Morgan Township Cherokees at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobart is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Hobart took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Westville by a score of 8-3. The win continues a trend for the Brickies in their matchups with the Blackhawks: they've now won three in a row.

Ladan Weinman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Nora Hornak was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Hobart was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Morgan Township lost 11-2 to Boone Grove on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Cherokees in their meetings with the Wolves: they've now lost seven in a row.

Hobart's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Morgan Township, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Hobart beat Morgan Township 8-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Brickies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
